Check out our Christmas Displays!

'Tis The Season!!

I'm In LOVE with These Fancy Candles!

Not only do these cuties smell amazing, they also look really great too!
We are gift wrapping up a storm here in ID and these puppies are are flyin' out the door! Come in and do some gift shopping! We will even do your gift wrapping for you!

These a designed by a very talented husband&wife duo. Their philosophy: "We've never understood the plain-ivory-candle-in-the-fancy-box thing. Isn't it a bit of a let down when you open it up, and the box, which is the nicest part, is just trash? We’ve thoughtfully designed all our products so they are beautiful and reusable. Everything we sell is made in the USA. Our candles are silk-screened, then poured with our custom soy wax blend to ensure a clean, even burn. Once the wax has burned down, our pillars are reusable as drinking glasses. We also encourage you to reuse our 3-wick containers for things like holding cotton balls, paper clips, or even as a sugar jar."

This is why we love them!!!!

Here is a list of scents you can find in our store (while the goodies last!):
Owl Candle Set (seen in the top picture!) - $50 for the set

Here is our gift guide for this year. These are all great gifts you can pick up at ID-inside design for under $60. The biggest hit this year I think is the Folk Art Piggy Bank ($55). It is a whimsical, hand painted, functioning piggy bank with coin slot and cork. To make this gift extra special, stash a little cash in it. Another winner is the Black Baroque Frame ($20). This modern take on traditional design also comes in white. Make this gift extra special by including one of your own photos when you give it. Who doesn't want a Gnome ($55)? This ceramic fellow available in paprika or white. He is the perfect accessory for inside or out. Laser Cut Felt Coasters ($7 for set of 4), also available in ivory, make a great hostess or holiday party gift. Set the mood with this Rose Tea Light Holder ($20), also available in chrome, bronze or cream. Give this Owl 4 Votive Gift Set ($50). Four fig scented votives are decorated with illustrations of woodland creatures and are packaged in a lovely red gift adorned with owl illustration. We can ship anywhere in the country, and we offer complimentary gift wrap with any purchase, so lucky you!
Happy Holidays!

Artifact As Art

New trend alert! I like to think of it as Artifact As Art. This trend takes utilitarian or architectural objects, and changes their context. For example, check out these vintage printing blocks (above) used in making batik fabric. Hand carved and stained with homemade dyes used in the printing process, each one is unique. Hang them on the wall and presto they become a colorful and interesting collage. Re-purposing industrial objects can lead to funky art or home furnishing.
This antique sugar press, pictured above, was rolled over sugar cane to squeeze the juices out. Now retired from sugar production, it makes a great rustic stool or side table. This trend applies to old gears, cogs, or as in the photo below a factory cart. This coffee table is made from an old industrial cart used in factories for transporting goods and heavy loads. This rusticated and distressed piece of furniture will bring a sense of history and authenticity to any space. This trend also makes a great opportunity to be green by recycling and reusing.
Vintage Batik Printing Blocks: $20 each, or $200 for a set of 12
Antique Sugar Press: $2100
Factory Cart Coffee Table: $555

Get Transfered

Check out this cool transfer ware glass that just arrived. Cute woodland creatures adorn these candle sets and trays. The set of 4 candle votives above comes in a super cute red box with owl graphic. I am kind of an animal illustration junkie, especially if it is super detailed. Remember when bird silhouettes were on everything? Ok...I still like bird silhouettes, and owls, and deer.
Is that so wrong?
I proclaim these to be perfect holiday gifts. The trays would be great to give as a hostess gift with soap or a candle, of course they are so cool they could stand alone. Heaven help anyone who shows up at a dinner or holiday party without a hostess gift. I mean, where will modern society go if we forgo all the etiquette that Miss Manners, and Emily Post so thoughtfully laid out for us? To you know where in a hand basket, I say. So don't forget the hostess gift!
Peruse all the styles on our website.
4.5" x 5.5" Glass Tray $15
8" x 8" Glass Trays $35
16" x 10" Glass Tray $55
4 Candle Gift Box $50
Beaded Glass Frames $45

Hot Clock

Just in time for daylight savings, a modern cuckoo clock! This white resin timepiece has stag head decoration, pine cone weights, swinging pendulum and a cuckoo bird that emerges on the hour to flap his wings and sing his song. Ok, I'll admit it, if I could marry a clock it would be this one. I hear a rumor that come January it will be available in black...ooohhh how very gothic. Now in this age where everyone checks the time on their cells, wouldn't it be nice to have a reminder of what a telling time used to be. It has hands, people...Real hands!
Cuckoo Clock 16 x 4 x 36h $245

Text-ured Tables

These zinc Gutenberg tables are brand new in the showroom today. The antiqued tops are embossed with red or black text including letters and numbers. There is even an ampersand people! Light weight and kicky, these fun sides are named in homage to Johannes Gutenberg the father of the movable type printing press. Use these cool, vintage looking pieces to impress your friends with your historical anecdotal references about printers from the 15th century. Trust me, they will be impressed.
Large Gutenberg Table $90 (21.25"h x 17"w x 17"l)
Small Gutenberg Table $75 (19"h x 14.75"w x 14.75"l)

That's Bagtastic!

New bags are here @ ID! First up we have hand woven red or blue striped grain sack totes with leather handles. These roomy bags (20" x 5" x 15") are perfect for a trip to the farmers market, or corner store. Be green and fashionable by bringing your own bag shopping. I know summer is over, but this sturdy tote would be awesome for the beach too, or a picnic (you still have time for one of those). In fact, I can think of no fewer than a quadrillion uses for this bag. It is a must have. Next up is the burlap messenger bag (18" x 5" x 14"). This bag is embellished with a screen printed french sulphur sack logo. It looks re-purposed, handmade, and vintage. I suggest giving one of these bags as a house warming gift, stocked with fresh greens, wine, and cheese. Include a homemade map with directions from your friend's house to the farmer's market, or a gift certificate to the gourmet grocery.

Grain Sack Tote With Leather Handles - $85

Burlap Messenger Bag - $45

Industrial French Market... Or At Least That Is What I Am Calling It

OK, so there is a new trend and I am calling it "Industrial French Market". Ingredients: Louis XVI style furniture frames, burlap, jute, linen, raw metal finishes, patina'd wood, and found objects. I've seen a lot of reproduction screen prints thrown on upholstery too, like french flour and sulphur sack logos. I like all the super sexy raw elements like rivets and exposed seems. These funky industrial elements would look great in a loft with concrete floors and exposed beams. I feel like this is the new "modern" without all of the cold, sterile, antiseptic nothingness. It is gritty and raw, yet softened by the delicate elements like hand stitched appliques and romantic historical upholstery frame.

SMILE Network's Featured Artist:Gino Hollander

(Portraiture in our showroom!)

Gino Hollander started painting in New York after a successful filmmaking career. He became part of the group of New Yorkers who defined the abstract expressionism movement. Acrylic paint was just entering the art world and Gino Hollander was one of the first to explore its techniques. He sold paintings to the famous faces of Jacky Kennedy, Steve McQueen, and Norman Rockwell.

Gino paints for himself, and releases his paintings for the viewer to view. He doesn't say anything about his paintings, and he refeuses to title his work.

The majority of the pieces that are in our showroom are portraiture with a handful of abstract pieces and some sea inspired work. The portrate faces are purposfully left blank and are balanced on the edge of nothingness. Gino paints in a neutral color pallet of black and white with a splash of ochre hues.
The pieces are a stunning grab for someone who is looking for some extra depth to their space. Come in and check them out. These pieces are brought in by the SMILE Network a nonprofit company who raises money for surgical mission trips to other countries to help children with cleft palets. http://www.smilenetwork.org/Smile_Network/Welcome.html.

This is Lucy. She an English Staffordshire Terrier that works at The Nature Group, a landscape architecture firm we share space with. Occasionally, you can see her tearing full speed through the ID showroom. She has very discerning tastes in furniture, and is partial to glamour and luxury. Lucy says the easiest way to get that old Hollywood Glamour look is with animal print and a little white lacquer.

Brand New Today...Sabine

Let me introduce you to the Sabine lamp. She just arrived at the store today. Sabine is the perfect blend of elegant and funky. Antiqued brass finish with exposed candelabra bulb, housed in a pear shaped globe. I think it is a really fresh design with a nice retro vibe. I have always been partial to an exposed bulb, and think it is quite sexy.
